Transporting vegetable crates with Gemüse im Abo

The story

Every week, you and your team make an impressive and visible contribution to the climate-friendly distribution of your vegetable boxes in Freiburg and the surrounding area. And the consistent pursuit of organically grown vegetables does not end with the distribution to your customers. You can see it, it works and in the end it tastes even better! Ursula and her team have been using simple bicycle trailers for distribution since the beginnings of Gemüse im Abo in 1996 with just a few vegetable boxes. The constant demand for vegetable crates is helping to boost the business and, thanks to the distribution team's consistent use of eCARLAs, it is now possible to distribute up to 1500 vegetable crates per week without any problems.

The Setup

Six eCARLAs are used, which are pulled by employees' bicycles. At the headquarters in Gundelfingen, the vegetable crates are loaded with vegetables from the Klosterhof and then distributed 2 - 3 times a week with 6 eCARLAs in the Freiburg area. The set-up is uncomplicated and Euro standard crates are consistently used for distribution. A firmly tensioned tension belt system enables the vegetable crates to be loaded and unloaded quickly. For the most part, distribution is carried out in a star shape from the head office in Gundelfingen. At peak times, however, two CARLAs may be coupled to a train bike to save a return journey over long distances.
